Steps for Installing and running JMeter

1) Install Java (JDK) - As JMeter is pure Java based desktop application; it requires a fully compliant JVM 6 or higher. You can download and install the latest version of Java SE Development Kit.

2) Download JMeter - the latest version of JMeter is Apache JMeter 2.9

3) Installation- Installation of JMeter is extremely easy and simple. Copy the downloaded ZIP file to any location and unzip it.

4) Launch JMeter – JMeter can be run easily by either double clicking on the bat file or running JMeter from command prompt.

If JDK is not installed on your machine, it will give following error.

  

   Install JDK accordingly i.e 32 bit or 64 bit.

Set environment variables by selecting path and edit and copy the path from JRE till bin folder and paste in the path selected.

     Create a new variable -->JAVA HOME -- > and enter the path of JDK parent folder here.

 

   Now Try to Launch Jmeter.bat. Jmeter Screen will open like this.

 I  If your internet requires any proxy setting to start, then starting JMeter with above mentioned way will not work in such case. Please start JMeter with proxy as per following snap shot.

 

Make use of following options from above snap shot to start JMeter with proxy:
-H: Give Proxy Host -P: Give proxy port -u: give your user name -a: Give your password

Please look at below snap shot.

Eg: C:\Users\archana.krushnan\Desktop\apache-jmeter-2.9\apache-jmeter-2.9\bin>jmeter.bat -H 172.16.0.160 - P 8080 -u fps\archana.krushnan -a password
